Video game can be as difficult as, if not more difficult than, calculus

If you have ever played a video game with someone more experienced, you might be familiar with the embarrassing feeling of trying and failing at a task others find so easy.

But a group of US researchers have conducted a study that will vindicate anyone who has suffered a humiliating defeat at the hands of a video game.

The findings of the research show Super Mario Brothers can be as difficult as, if not more difficult than, calculus.

The study compared Super Mario Bros to PSPACE puzzles, which are widely considered the most challenging algorithms because they can theoretically take forever to solve and also forever to verify.

This means they are similar to video games, because figuring out how to complete a fiendishly difficult level of ‘Super Mario Brothers’ could take a long time, but so could navigating that level, even with the solution in hand.
